Air Conditioning Installation in Ipswich QLD

Split system supply and installation with a dedicated circuit sized correctly the first time, whether your home runs on the grid, solar, or an off-grid system.

A Split System Is Only as Good as the Circuit Behind It

Installing air conditioning is an electrical job before it's anything else. A split system needs a dedicated circuit sized to its running and starting current, an isolator within reach of the outdoor unit, and a switchboard with enough capacity to carry it without tripping the rest of the house. We handle that side of the work in Ipswich and Brisbane, coordinated with the refrigerant work so the whole installation happens on one visit.

Sizing matters more than most people expect. Undersize a unit and it runs flat out all summer and wears out early. Oversize it and it short-cycles, never properly dehumidifies, and costs more to run than it should. We size against room orientation, glazing, insulation and ceiling height, not a number pulled off a floor-area chart.

Air conditioning is also the load that most often decides whether a solar or off-grid system copes with a hot afternoon. If your property runs on either, that's a conversation worth having before the unit is bought, not after it's tripping the inverter every day at 3pm.

SCOPE OF WORKS

What an Installation Covers.

Load Sizing

Capacity worked out against room orientation, glazing, insulation and ceiling height, not floor area alone.

Dedicated Circuit

A circuit sized to the unit’s running and starting current, with an isolator installed within reach of the outdoor unit.

Switchboard Capacity Check

Main switch rating and available circuit space checked before installation, so nothing is a surprise on the day.

Off-Grid & Solar Sizing

Cooling load modelled against your system’s generation and battery capacity where solar or off-grid power is involved.

WORTH KNOWING

Running Air Conditioning on Off-Grid or Solar Power.

On a standalone or hybrid system, cooling is usually the single biggest discretionary load, and it peaks in the season with the most generation available. That's only useful if the system was designed around it rather than surprised by it.

Modern inverter units draw considerably less than older fixed-speed systems and can be scheduled to do their hardest work during the middle of the day, when the array is producing the most. We've seen cases where upgrading to a more efficient unit costs less than upgrading the battery capacity needed to carry an old one. If solar or off-grid power is anywhere in your plans, ask us before you buy the unit.

COMMON JOBS

What We Get Called For.

The current unit is the wrong size for the room.

Short-cycling, poor dehumidifying or a unit that never keeps up on a hot day usually traces back to sizing rather than the brand.

A new room addition needs cooling.

New circuit, isolator and switchboard check as part of an extension or renovation, planned in alongside the rest of the electrical work.

A property with solar or a battery wants aircon added.

We check whether the existing system can carry the extra load, and whether scheduling changes the answer.

The switchboard needs checking before a new unit goes in.

A five-minute check of the main switch rating and available circuit space, done before you commit to a unit, not after.

AIR CONDITIONING QUESTIONS

What People Ask Before They Install.

It depends on room orientation, glazing, insulation, ceiling height and how the space is used, which is why a figure taken from floor area alone is a guess. We look at the room and give you a capacity with the reasoning behind it, because getting this right matters more than brand choice for comfort and running cost.
We handle the electrical side: the dedicated circuit, isolator, switchboard capacity check and the connection point for the unit. Supply of the unit itself and the refrigerant work are installed to manufacturer requirements and the relevant licensing, which we coordinate as part of the job.
Yes, but it's one of the loads that most affects system size, so it needs to be in the design from the start rather than added later. Inverter-driven units draw far less than older fixed-speed systems and can usually be scheduled to run hardest during the middle of the day, when generation is highest.
Sometimes not without changes. We check the main switch rating, available circuit space and existing load before we quote, so you know upfront if the board needs attention as well as the new circuit. It's a five-minute check that avoids a surprise mid-installation.
Multi-head systems run several indoor units from one outdoor condenser, which suits a house with a few separate rooms to cool. The electrical side is a single dedicated circuit sized to the outdoor unit, with isolators at each indoor head as required.
